FileTRX Help & FAQ

Answers about requesting files from clients, collecting documents, tracking progress, plans, billing, and trust.

About FileTRX

What is FileTRX?

FileTRX is a structured file request tool for professionals who need to collect documents from clients. You create a checklist-based request, send one link, and track what is still missing until the request is complete.

Is FileTRX for sending files or collecting files?

FileTRX is designed primarily for collecting files from clients, not for general-purpose file sending or cloud storage. It replaces messy email and shared-folder workflows when you need a clearer request process.

Who is FileTRX best for?

FileTRX is best for accountants, recruiters, agencies, consultants, and freelancers who regularly need clients to upload the right documents with less back-and-forth.

Using requests

Do uploaders need an account?

No. Clients can upload through your request link without creating an account. Only request owners need an account to create and manage requests.

What kind of files can I request?

You can request any files that fit your workflow, such as IDs, statements, receipts, portfolios, CVs, contracts, or project assets. The request checklist lets you define exactly what each client should submit.

Can I control who uploads?

Yes. FileTRX uses controlled request links and supports request-level access settings. Uploaders cannot browse your workspace or see other submissions.

Can requests expire?

Yes. Free requests can expire in up to 14 days. Pro plans and Boosted requests can stay open for up to 90 days.

Can I track what is still missing?

Yes. Each request shows checklist progress so you can see what has been uploaded, what is still pending, and when the request is complete.

Upload pages

When should I use an upload page?

Use upload pages when you want a reusable branded intake link. Use Request files when you need a one-off checklist with specific required items for a client.

Send files and deliveries

What is Send files?

Send files is for owner-to-recipient deliveries. You upload files, FileTRX emails a secure download link, and the recipient downloads from a public delivery page.

Does Send files support custom sender domains?

No. Send Files V1 uses FileTRX managed email infrastructure. Custom sender domains, owner SMTP, DKIM, SPF, and DMARC setup are not included.

Custom email templates

What can templates change?

Custom email templates change request workflow email content only: request link, reminder, and upload receipt messages. They do not change the sender domain or SMTP provider.

Cloud destinations

Does FileTRX sync to Google Drive, OneDrive, SharePoint, or Dropbox today?

Not yet. Cloud destinations are a provider-independent foundation. Pro owners can save a preview destination now, but real Google Drive, OneDrive/SharePoint, and Dropbox OAuth and sync are not live yet.

Branding

Where does branding appear?

Branding settings apply to public request pages and upload pages. Free plans keep a small FileTRX attribution visible; Pro can remove account-wide FileTRX attribution.

Plans and billing

What is the difference between Free, Pro, and Boost?

Free is for trying FileTRX and lightweight client requests. Pro is for recurring professional client work, with larger limits, reminders, branding removal, and analytics. Boost is a one-time upgrade that gives one request Pro-level limits without changing your account plan, and starts from an upgrade or limit message on that request.

What does the Free plan include?

Free includes up to 2 active requests, up to 14-day expiry, up to 250MB per request, templates, and FileTRX branding on request pages.

What does Pro include?

Pro includes unlimited active requests, up to 90-day expiry, up to 5GB per request, reminder support, branding removal, templates, and analytics for recurring workflows.

Can I cancel my subscription?

Yes. You can cancel anytime. Your plan changes are managed through the Stripe billing portal.

Security and trust

Are uploads secure?

Yes. Transfers use HTTPS and uploads are stored on secure infrastructure with controlled access.

Does FileTRX access my files?

No. FileTRX does not access file content unless required for security, abuse prevention, or legal compliance.

Where can I review your privacy and legal information?

Public trust pages are available on the site, including Privacy, Terms, Cookies, AUP, and DPA.

Does retention automatically delete files?

Not in V1. Retention settings record owner policy metadata for planning and visibility; automatic file deletion from storage is planned for a later phase.

Does FileTRX block dangerous file extensions?

Yes. FileTRX blocks common executable and script file extensions. Malware scanning is planned for a later security phase.
